We will not be getting into all these products in this evaluation, we will take a little time later on to size up the all-foam Layla against its hybrid counterpart. What is the Layla Mattress Made Of?
As I discussed up leading, the Layla is a flippable mattress that features both a “Firm” and “Soft” side. No matter how you orient the bed, both sides include leading and bottom layers of memory foam surrounding interior sections of poly foam. For the purpose of this review, I was sleeping with the “Soft” side up, though I’ll explain both setups below.
So, how exactly does a flippable mattress work? Let’s dive below the cover to discover.
Cover – The Layla cover is made from a thick polyester blend. It’s got a soft hand feel that’s cozy and luxurious.
Comfort – With the “Soft” side flipped up, the comfort layer is comprised of a 3″ area of copper-infused memory foam. This product has a sluggish response to pressure, so provides the sleeper with plenty of body-contouring and sinkage. And while memory foam does have a small credibility for getting too hot, the foam here has been instilled with cooling copper to keep the temperatures low. This is a considerably thick layer of memory foam, so I can already tell that the “Soft” side could be great for side sleepers (more on that later!).
Transition – Up next, you’ll land on a transitional layer of poly foam. This material is much firmer than the one above it, assisting to suppress the memory foam’s deep sink and transition the sleeper into the firmer base products below. Layla Mattress Unboxing.
Support – And what exactly are we transitioning into? A 4″ layer of high-density poly foam. Super solid and steady, this product provides the mattress with most of its fundamental assistance. When oriented with the “Soft” side up, this layer essentially operates as the base. When the bed is set up to the “Company” side, this area ends up being a company transitional layer that supplies assistance to the lower back and hips.
Base– Last but not least, we arrive at the 2nd and final layer of copper-infused memory foam. This one’s only an inch tall, so you can’t actually feel it when the bed remains in its “Soft” orientation. If you were to turn it, however, this would become the comfort layer. It would not offer nearly as much pressure relief as the 3″ section of copper-infused memory foam we’ve already seen, but could return and combo sleepers a subtle hug at the lumbar region.

How Does the Layla Mattress Feel?
Now that we’ve got a solid sense of what’s going on inside the Layla mattress, let’s get into how it feels, beginning with firmness. Layla Mattress Unboxing.
As with any feel element, firmness is subjective, and can alter a lot depending on one’s body size, shape, and weight. My read of this bed’s firmness could differ from your own. For referral, I have to do with 5′ 10″, 190 pounds. and prefer to sleep on my stomach.
Since the Layla is flippable, I chose to give it two firmness scores. On the “Soft” side, this bed gets a 5.5/ 10 from me. On the “Company” side, I arrived on a 7.5/ 10. To offer these scores some context, the market standard for medium firmness is 6.5, so it’s safe to say that these rankings are a bit severe.
” Soft” side: As quickly as I hopped onto the Layla in its soft setup, I might feel my body sinking into the luxurious top layer of copper-infused memory foam. The material contoured around my shoulders, hips, and lower back, offering me with that timeless memory foam “hug.” I think this feel would probably work best for side sleepers or those in need of deep pressure relief at the joints.
” Firm” side: On the “Company” side, it was quite another story entirely. By swapping out a 3″ top layer of memory foam for a 1″ layer, the bed all of a sudden becomes extremely supportive. There’s hardly any contouring at all, which produces a solidly “on top” of the bed type vibe. I think this feel could work best for back sleepers in need of firm support at the hips and lumbar region.

Evaluating the Layla Mattress
Firmness is very important, but it’s simply one piece of the feel puzzle. To get even more particular about this bed’s total ambiance, I’m now going to test it for two other elements: Pressure Relief and Movement Transfer.
Pressure relief describes a bed’s ability to relieve stress at the shoulders, hips, and lower back. This procedure will be important for all sleepers, but especially so for those who have problem with joint pain. To assist you visualize how exactly the Layla alleviates pressure, I’ll be evaluating it out with a pressure map.
Essentially, it works like this: I roll out the device, hop aboard, and let the map do the rest. As I roll around, the map records just how much force I’m putting in on the mattress, creating a colored “map” of the pressure. For referral, blue indicates locations of low pressure and red shows areas of high pressure. Layla Mattress Unboxing.
As I pointed out above, the “Company” side was the most comfy for back sleeping, in my viewpoint. It set my spinal column in a nice, neutral line by keeping my hips raised in alignment with my shoulders. On the “Soft” side, I found that my hips sank a little too far into the structure for the position to be comfortable.
When I turned onto my side, I felt a lots of great pressure relief on the “Soft” side of the bed. The thick leading layer of memory foam nestled my shoulders and provided me with an ultra-cozy deep sink. As to be expected, the “Company” configuration didn’t supply me with nearly as much pressure relief, so may not be the best orientation for strict side sleepers.
No matter whether I had the Layla configured to the “Soft” or “Firm” side, I wouldn’t state this bed is a hit for stomach sleeping. Stringent stomach sleepers tend to choose solidly firm mattresses that lift the sleeper absolutely on top of the bed, which the Layla is not. Layla Mattress Unboxing.
Let’s finish up this area with a take a look at motion transfer, which describes the amount of movement noticeable from one side of the bed to the other. All sleepers will want to focus on this feel element, though it will most likely be most relevant for those who share their bed with a partner.
To show this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, Eight inches and 12 inches and determined the disruption it caused: the bigger the lines, the larger the disruption.
These are great motion transfer results, which tells me that you should not be too bothered by your bed mate’s motions in the night. The star here is the thick top layer of memory foam, which works to take in motion and move it equally throughout the surface area of the bed.

Should You Buy the Layla Mattress?
The Layla is a memory foam mattress in a box that let’s you select whether you want firm assistance or softer comfort. Side sleepers will probably choose the soft side, while back sleepers can choose whichever fits their choice. Layla Mattress Unboxing.
First and foremost, if you’re a fan of memory foam, you’ll likely be a fan of the Layla mattress. This bed features a great deal of the product, so epitomizes its particular sinkage and contouring hug.
As far as sides are concerned, I believe side sleepers will choose the “Soft” orientation and back sleepers will most likely be better off on the “Company” side.
I ‘d likewise state that this bed has really low movement transfer, which marks it as a solid option for couples. Layla Mattress Unboxing.
If you’re trying to find a bouncy bed, the Layla will likely not fit the bill. There’s not a lot of bounce here, which leads to more of a “stuck-in-the-bed” type ambiance.
I ‘d likewise state that the mattress isn’t supportive enough to bolster much heavier folks as they sink into the bed. These sleepers will desire something with a bit more lift to make sure that they’re placed on top of the structure.
Layla features an all-foam, flippable style with various firmness levels on each side. This enables sleepers to experience a different feel just by turning the mattress over. Layla’s convenience layers integrate memory foam for considerable pressure relief, and in our screening we also discovered the mattress to sleep very cool. Layla Mattress Unboxing.
